At nearly 300 metres above sea level, St Luke’s Church, Lodge Moor is higher than Big Ben and nearly as high as the Eiffel Tower!
Height, particularly in relation to mountains, is a recurring theme in the Bible. For example, Moses received the 10 Commandments atop Mount Sinai and Jesus retreated up a mountain to pray.
‘Altitude’ resonates with our identity as a Church due to our literal altitude and also the symbolic altitude of God. It’s also, we think, a cool name!
